COLLECTION INSPIRÉE
BY THE TREES OF PARIS

"Les Arbres de Paris" is my second collection, consisting of earrings and pendants. I’ve used two techniques :
- 1. Chiselled brass, plated with gold or silver.
- 2. Recycled brass, painted with cold enamel.
Étapes de fabrication pour la deuxième technique :
- 1. Cleaning and sanding the recycled brass.
- 2. Transferring the tree design onto the metal.
- 3. Marking with a centre punch and cutting with a saw.
- 4. Smoothing the edges with a needle file and sanding (grit 240 to 1000).
- 5. Soldering the 925 silver post with the appropriate tools.
- 6. Eco-friendly cleaning (using salt and vinegar).
- 7. Preparing the surface (grit 1200) for the enamel.
- 8. Applying the enamel, drying between coats.
- 9. Final lacquer (drying for 10 hours).

The Trees of Paris
In Paris, for example, there are around 100,000 trees lining the streets, and over 480,000 trees in total when public parks and gardens are included. These trees play a crucial role for the city and its residents.
The street trees of Paris are part of the many natural and artificial environments and ecosystems. They are a key green element in the Parisian landscape, contributing to the city’s aesthetic, quality of life, economy, and urban environment.
Due to their significant importance in urban and local management plans, particularly following the commitments made at Kyoto – notably the Local Agenda 21 – and more generally, in the construction of the 21st-century city, the reality of trees in Paris today is the result of over a century of urban policies. These have shaped the city, making trees an essential actor in its landscape and in the imagination of its inhabitants.
URBAN TREES PROVIDE MANY ECOLOGICAL BENEFITS

1. Reducing air pollution :
Urban trees can capture up to 1.3 kg of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) per tree each year. In Paris, this represents a significant amount of pollutants absorbed annually, contributing to better air quality for residents.

2. Thermal regulation :
Trees can lower the ambient temperature by 2 to 8 degrees Celsius, which is particularly beneficial during heatwaves. The trees of Paris help to reduce the urban heat island effect, improving thermal comfort in summer.

3. Biodiversity and ecological corridors :
Trees and other green spaces in the city create habitats for a variety of plant and animal species. In Paris, initiatives to create ecological corridors connect different habitats, supporting urban biodiversity.

4. Stormwater management :
A mature tree can intercept more than 10,000 litres of rainwater annually, reducing the risk of flooding and relieving pressure on urban drainage systems. In Paris, this contribution is essential for the sustainable management of water resources.

5. Mental and physical well-being :
Access to green spaces and the presence of trees in urban areas are associated with reduced stress, improved mental health, and increased physical activity. Parisian parks and gardens are cherished places of relaxation and leisure for both residents and tourists.
