Thank you so much for your trust!
Handmade Jewellery in 925 Sterling Silver
Silver is a precious metal considered pure at 999/1000. In this state, it’s too soft to be used for jewellery. I therefore work with Sterling Silver, also known as 925 silver, which contains 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. This combination strengthens the structure of the jewellery while preserving the elegance of the metal.
Silver is also more malleable and delicate than gold or platinum. It can oxidise (darken) when exposed to moisture – a normal chemical reaction. This doesn’t mean your jewellery is of poor quality. In fact, depending on your skin’s pH, silver will react differently. Fortunately, these effects are reversible with proper care.
Handmade Jewellery in 3-Micron Gold-Plated Brass
Jewellery made from 3-micron gold-plated brass is crafted from an alloy of copper and zinc, then coated with a fine layer of gold three microns thick. This type of plating gives the jewellery the appearance and shine of gold, while remaining more accessible than solid gold.
The three-micron plating offers greater durability compared to thinner plating. As a result, your jewellery will better withstand everyday wear. However, this doesn’t eliminate the need for regular care.
Handmade Jewellery in Fine Gold-Plated Brass (24-Carat Gold)
Jewellery in fine gold-plated brass (24k) has a very thin layer of gold, often less than three microns, applied over a brass or similar metal base. 24k gold is the purest form (99.9% gold), but its thinness makes it more vulnerable to wear.
These pieces should be handled with care. To preserve their shine, it’s essential to follow the care tips outlined below.
Care Tips for Your Contemporary Handmade Jewellery
Avoid water contact. Remove your jewellery before showering, swimming, or doing the dishes. Salt water and chlorine can damage the plating.
Avoid chemicals. Perfumes, lotions, and household products can tarnish your jewellery. Apply your cosmetics and let them dry before putting your jewellery on.
Store your jewellery properly. Use a fabric-lined box or a soft pouch to prevent scratches and friction.
Clean them regularly. Use a soft, dry cloth or a polishing cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or hard brushes that could damage the surface.
Remove your jewellery before intense physical activity. This includes sports or any activity that might cause knocks or excessive sweating.
By following these simple but effective tips, you’ll preserve the beauty and brilliance of your jewellery for as long as possible.
